Exploring The Options Seminar

Working in partnership with the Scottish Family Business Association (SFBA), this breakfast seminar will examine various exit or succession strategies for business owners, with particular focus on employee ownership, social enterprises, management buy-outs and trade sales.

Did you know that only 33% of family businesses make it to the second generation and only 9% to the third? The key reason is the lack of planning for this crucial time. In addition, 57% of family firms have no defined plan for succession although 39% expect the CEO to retire or leave within the coming years. Even if the MD or CEO doesn't expect to hand over their business in the near future, it's crucial for them to plan for when the time comes.

Hear a variety of succession options from our line-up of experts:

Glen Dott, Co-Operative Development Scotland - employee ownership
Martin Stepek, SFBA - social enterprises and family businesses
Robert Burns, MacRoberts - MBOs and trade sales.
