Local Export Partnership

Local Export Partnership for Highlands and Islands

Led by Inverness Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with other highland agencies (including HIE, SDI, Business Gateway and Enterprise Europe), the Local Export Partnership aims to provide SMEs across the Highlands and Islands with increased opportunities to export their goods and services. The Local Export Partnership offers a network of advice and support for businesses across the Highlands and Islands region through all stages of the exporting journey. This support is available to any SME within the region, regardless of size, sector or location and is not exclusive to members of a Chamber of Commerce. As well as offering support and encouragement to SME’s, the Local Export Partnership will offer:

  • Access to appropriate hands on support
  • Bespoke export action planning
  • Mentoring support
  • Financial support
  • Market research information
  • 1:1 advice and sign-posting
  • Access to the global Chamber of Commerce network

As part of the Local Export Partnership, we have designed a questionnaire to allow us to ascertain key themes in relation to the challenges and barriers business face when beginning to export. Conducting a questionnaire of this nature enables us to identify gaps in the support available to business, in turn, allowing us to determine the ways in which these gaps can be closed.

The Local Export Partnership questionnaire can be accessed here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/CHYVGLM

Export Fund:

Micro-grants of up to £350 to cover the cost of travel and accommodation to market research events are available where necessary. The funding is intended to allow businesses to take opportunities that they might otherwise not have been able to. Export Fund application forms are available on request from LEP@inverness-chamber.co.uk

International Trade Partner:

Clark Thomson Insurance Brokers are Inverness Chamber of Commerce’s International Trade Partner. As part of the support through the Local Export Partnership, Clark Thomson are offering a free audit on insurance and logistics for companies interested in the support. This service is available via a two-page application form, which can be accessed here or by contacting international@inverness-chamber.co.uk
