Member of the Week - Buchanan Shaw Consulting Ltd
Buchanan Shaw Consulting Ltd, an employment law and HR consultancy, began trading in August 2015, after Managing Director Gill Shaw decided to take her own advice. Gill chaired the Advisory Group Committee for the Worker’s Educational Association’s Women @ Work Project. In November 2014, she delivered a keynote speech at their Inverness conference, which explored the role of women in public life.
Gill posed the question: “What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?” By answering her own question, Gill realised she would be running her own business. 6 months later Gill did just that and launched Buchanan Shaw Consulting Ltd.
From its base in Inverness, the company provides tailored employment law advice, HR support and training delivery to assist businesses, organisations and individuals throughout Scotland manage and resolve workplace issues.
Gill worked in large commercial law firms in Edinburgh and Inverness for 15 years before deciding the set up the business.
Gill is a solicitor, specialising in employment law and discrimination. She provides employment law and HR advice and tribunal representation to clients. She is also a qualified mediator and has those skills to help clients resolve disputes in the workplace.

“Employment law is about people, and relationships”, said Gill, “I love the variety of issues which our clients present and the opportunities to work with them to reach creative and workable solutions”.
Gill told Inverness Chamber why she would like to feature as member of week: “We are keen to spread the word about the services we offer. Also, Lisa has recently joined the business and we are keen to spread the word about the services she can provide.”
