Member of the Week - Citation Professional Solutions
This week, the Member of the Week focus is altered slightly, as Scott Roberts from Citation discusses his involvement in this year’s Strictly Inverness competition.
A new year wouldn’t be complete without a challenge that takes you out of your comfort zone. Scott has certainly approached 2017 with this in mind.
Scott has been selected to take part in this year’s Strictly Inverness 2017 competition in aid of the Highland Hospice & Inverness Ice Centre, which includes a gruelling 4 months of training culminating in a final showpiece dance off between Wednesday 17th and Saturday 20th May, 2017.
Strictly Inverness is a dance competition which raises funds for Chamber members Highland Hospice and Inverness Ice Centre. Taking place at Inverness Ice Centre, Wednesday's launch night showcases some of the very best local dancing talent. On Thursday and Friday, eight local couples will perform two dances, along with their spectacular group dance, to compete for a place in the Saturday night grand finale when we will announce the 2017 winners.
“I found out about the Strictly Inverness contestant search via an Inverness Chamber of Commerce email, and I thought why not? I like to have something in my personal life to focus on and to learn new things that help keep me fit. I have also raised about £7,000 over the last few years for various charities and I felt that it would be another opportunity to give something back to the local area. We went through a pairing night back in December and I was lucky enough to be paired with Louise Maclean. She’s a better dancer than me so she keeps me right!”
“So far we have been training for around 5 weeks including learning two individual dances and a group dance. The challenge of getting your feet to go in a different direction to your hands and stay in time have been challenging but so much fun. Our final routines are kept a closely guarded secret so if you want to see you will have to come and watch in May.”
The fundraising aspect forms a big part of the challenge for each of the pairs, and Scott and Louise are working individually and together on events to raise money. Each dancer is tasked to find a corporate sponsor and Scott has been generously supported by Dave and Jackie Newsham from Norscott Vending in Inverness.
Scott and Louise have two large fundraising events coming up in the next month, including a Business Networking Lunch supported by Citation at The Glen Mhor Hotel on Wednesday 22nd March and a Gatsby themed Diner Dance at The Loch Ness Lodge Hotel on Saturday 1st April. Tickets and information can be found by visiting the pair’s Facebook page.
Scott & Louise are hoping to clinch the big prize on Saturday 20th May. Keep an eye out this week to find out more about the charities involved and how to get your hands on tickets.
