Member of the Week - Fraser Signs
The business originally traded as A2Z Signs and was started by Ainslie Fraser in 2008, having formally grown a large local sign company before selling this in 2006 after 25 years of trading. A2Z Signs was taken over by Blair Fraser in 2012 after graduating with a law degree from Aberdeen Uni. Blair always wanted to be in business so joining the family business seemed like the best start. Fraser Signs have consistently grown the business year on year and have added to their team some of the best sign making talent in Inverness. In April 2017, the business was rebranded to Fraser Signs at the same time as moving to new, custom fitted offices and workshop. Fraser signs wanted to put their own stamp on the business and recognise the hard work their family has put into sign making over the years.
We spoke to Blair Fraser, owner of the business whose typical day will involve helping with design and layout of signage, dealing with customer enquiries and generally overseeing sales and production.
We asked Blair why he would like Fraser Signs to feature as member of the week: “We would like to draw attention to our new branding given that it has not been around very long and the fact that we have moved premises. It is also important for us to let other businesses know what services we offer”.
Fraser signs have recently invested in a new 3mx2m CNC Router which can cut a range of sheet materials to shape.
Blair shared with us what their business plans are over the next 12 months: “We have ambitious plans for growth over the next 12 months. This focus is ramping up our sales and marketing and increasing production capacity to deal with the results from this. We will continue to invest in the latest and most efficient equipment to keep us at the front of sign making development and provide our customers with the best solutions in the market.”
Early last year, Blair won a £1000 prize from Entrepreneurial Spark for the growth achieved during a 3-month business growth program. This taught Blair a lot of lessons on entrepreneurship and gave him invaluable ideas for continuing our growth.
We asked Blair what he appreciates most about Chamber membership: “The opportunity to meet likeminded people”.
Blair provided his ‘top tip’ for fellow members to ensure they make the most of their membership: “Be aware of all of the things the Chamber can do to provide value to members and take advantage of them, that’s what they are there for”.
