They recruit for permanent and temporary positions across many professions and industries as well as niche sectors. GH supply personnel within the commercial, construction and industrial environments, priding themselves on being a local business who have held their position in a competitive industry during a period of massive growth in the Highlands. They always look to change and adapt according to the needs of the area and have recently restructured and relocated to our Corporate Office in Henderson Road to further support what they can offer to their clients in the marketplace.
We spoke to Jia MacKenzie who first joined Global Highland in 2010 as Recruitment Team Leader and is now the Leader of the organisation following promotion to Managing Director in 2018. A highly experienced and reputable professional in the Recruitment Industry, Jia has experience in various sectors, inclusive of Construction/Building, Civil Engineering, Industrial, Technical, Commercial, Engineering and International O&G. Jia is now focused on developing people as well as the business and is driven to succeed as a business leader in all areas she is involved in.
Jia told Inverness Chamber why she would like Global Highland to feature as member of the week: “To make Chamber Members aware of the increased capability Global Highland Ltd now have across their dedicated divisions to source both temporary and permanent staff across a wider range of disciplines together with expanded geographic coverage as a result of changes made within the organisation over the last year.”
About Global Highland’s services, Jia said: “At Global Highland Ltd we pride ourselves on the quality and professionalism of our staff with all our key Recruiters CertRP qualified. We are committed to going the extra mile, working in partnership with our Clients to ensure the right people are put forward for their staffing requirements.
We put particular emphasis on quality and value, and have focused on the importance of harnessing skills, experience, attitude and personality in the candidate selection process. Our three divisions work in partnership with our clients to ensure the best quality candidates are fully screened and assessed to REC Industry standards and legislation in order to match their requirements. We have our own in-house payroll function to ensure our temporary workers are paid correctly and promptly on a weekly basis.”
Global Highland have been expanding their service offering recently, Jia told us more: “We have recently expanded our Construction division with Recruiters who specialise in this area of expertise providing increased capability to service this sector during a period of housing and infrastructure development in the Highlands. We now also have a Driving division headed up by a specialist Recruiter with over 15 years’ experience of providing staff in this sector.”
We asked Jia about GH’s business plans over the next 12 months: “To continue our current expansion providing recruitment solutions for companies in the east of Scotland and beyond. We are also looking to expand the divisions within Global Highland in order to provide a recruitment service to other business streams and to continue to improve what we currently offer to the local Highland market.”
Global Highland is also delighted to celebrate the success of their staff, 3 of which have recently gained their Certificate in Recruitment Practice (CertRP) and another who has recently qualified to SVQ4 Level in Management.
Jia shared with Chamber what she valued most about chamber membership: “The opportunity to meet with other business professionals in the Highlands to share ideas and opportunities that benefit the local economy and strengthen its position in the marketplace, both locally, nationally and overseas.”
Jia’s ‘top-tip’ to other Chamber members to maximise their membership would be: “Believe in your product, believe in your staff, invest in both and always look to further develop both your business and yourself. Nothing stays the same; you have to be prepared to adapt to changes according to the marketplace and all of the above will help to achieve this.”
