Member of the Week - Highland Graphics

Highland Graphics provide fresh and modern graphic and web design, providing a full range of creative services including everything from logos, business card designs and merchandise designs to web designs, social media content and search engine optimisation.

Highland Graphics was born out of the creative ambitions of Dan Sutherland, Senior Designer and Creative Director of the firm.  Dan worked as a freelance graphic artist and illustrator, with projects throughout Europe and the United States, before establishing a design studio in Inverness and later diversifying into website design and development.  Highland Graphics has been operating in its current form for 2 years, starting as a home run venture, and having recently expanded and relocated to occupy a city centre office on Huntly Street, Inverness.

Currently employing two full-time members of staff, with a third person due to join soon, Highland Graphics work with a number of independent contracts to assist with day-to-day functions.  We spoke to Dan to find out more about his role:

“My main responsibilities include client meetings, branding strategy and research, concepting and creative discovery and design formation.  Paul Overstone is the Production Manager, who oversees account management and our commercial printing and website design services.”

Highland Graphics is going through a phase of growth and expansion; with the move into the city centre making them more accessible to clients, and with plans to increase their workforce (including a marketing assistant and junior designer) by the end of the year.

The firm provide a complete range of commercial design and print services – with a focus on increasing brand visibility and functional design – to help businesses stand out and to create lasting consumer relationships.  The expanded offering includes everything from business cards and flyers to merchandise, signage, and many more.  Dan said:

“We provide a cost-effective, high quality, fully managed print services that can be completely catered to your organisations requirements.”

From June 2017, Highland Graphics will be located on Huntly Street, Inverness, following the recent partnership that saw Paul Ovenstone join the business.  Paul’s role will provide a new dimension to the company in the form of facilitating a complete range of commercial print services – allowing Highland Graphics to manage your design project from initial concepts and creative discovery right through to supplying the finished printed products.

As a relatively new member, we asked Dan what he valued most about membership of Inverness Chamber:

“I value being a Chamber member as the Chamber of Commerce has worked hard to increase Highland Graphic's visibility - undoubtedly assisting our subsequent growth during our membership period.  As a new business or a developing business, having such a resource in your corner can be invaluable for putting your skills and abilities in front of your target market as the Chamber have established marketing channels and promotional platforms.

Don't look at the cost of Chamber Membership as an expense but rather as an investment - I can pretty much guarantee it'll pay for itself, almost immediately.

We love coffee, comfortable chairs and good conversation - why not invite us round to discuss your design or print project?  Design consultations are free and there are absolutely no obligations."
