In 2019 Innes & Mackay celebrated 145 years of business. Historic documents showed that the workings of Innes & Mackay date back to 1874, but there has been evidence that Innes & Mackay were involved in a case prior to this in 1769, which was related to the release of peat diggings! Today Innes & Mackay now have a team of 34 employees. Innes & Mackay have been serving the Highland community for 145 years now, and they would like this member of the week chance to promote the business as a whole, and some of the community efforts they have been involved in over the years.
Innes & Mackay specialise in wills, conveyancing, family law and estate agency serving a broad area of the Highlands, reaching over to Skye and up to Wick.
Over their 145 years in business, Innes & Mackay have strived to put their focus on being all about the people within their Highland community. Throughout the years, they have donated generously to a number of causes, and enjoy giving back, such as to charities or local establishments. Those who have been involved with Innes & Mackay include Drakies primary school- with recent sponsorship of their football kits, and kit bags, sponsorship of the Cromarty cinema, Highland Heros, Ness Factor, Highland Hospice. - sponsorship of Cherry the squirel, and MFR Cash for kids with a number of donations made throughout the year and on the run up to MFR mission Christmas. The firm also offers preferential rates to those working in the emergency services industry such as the NHS, armed forces, police and fire services giving back to those who look after the Highland population.
Innes & Mackay told ICC about their business plans over the coming 12months: “To continue celebrations for the 145th birthday via the means of giving back to the community that have kept them in business for so many years. Continuous growth of the business, and providing exceptional level of care to our clients.”
Innes & Mackay also told ICC about their recent awards and successes: “2018 was a successful year for our team, the firm took home several awards including the Family Law Team of the Year Award from the Scott & Co Legal Awards, and winning Private Client Team of the Year at the Law Awards of Scotland. They also became a Gold Winner for the British Property Awards in the Inverness category.
In 2019, we were nominated for for two awards at the Herald Law Awards of Scotland, one of which was Solicitor of the Year for Lisa Law. We were also nominated for the Herald Law Awards of Scotland’s Corporate Social Responsibility Award where they received special commendation due to the amount they put back in to their surrounding community.” Innes & Mackay have also won a national Community Contribution Award every year since 2016.
ICC asked Innes & Mackay what they value most about their Inverness Chamber membership: “The sense of community among businesses that are part of the Chamber. It’s great having the opportunity to network at these events, represent what we do and share information among each other.”
