Member of the Week - Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC
The first football club to feature as Inverness Chamber of Commerce Member of the Week is Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC (ICTFC) – a club that currently employs around 80 members of staff between football players, coaches, and office staff.
The team was established in 1994 after a merger of two Highland League clubs – Inverness Thistle and Caledonian FC. The club quickly propelled itself through the leagues, securing promotion to the Scottish Premier League within 10 years of existence. ICTFC were also Scottish Cup champions in 2015 – a fantastic way to celebrate the club’s 21st birthday.
As a result of rapid growth through the years, the club has also evolved in many ways off the pitch, with commercial and community opportunities being vital elements in contributing towards the success of a modern day football club.
We spoke to Iain Auld at ICTFC to find out a little bit more:
“I’ve been with the football club for three and a half years now and my role as Commercial Manager is to support the football team by bringing commercial income in. My main remits include sponsorship around the team - including kits, players, and the stadium, which also includes the stadium advertising boards which you’ll see around Tulloch Caledonian Stadium. I’m responsible for match day hospitality and ensuring that all guests leave with a smile on their face, despite the result.”
Events are now a huge factor in ICTFC’s commercial activity and there are several hugely exciting events planned for 2017; including a sold out golf day in March, a comedy evening, sportsman’s dinner and more to follow throughout the year.
Hospitality packages and stadium advertising packages are always in demand at ICTFC, although there are still tickets available for ICTFC vs Celtic in March. For more information, contact Iain directly.
“We always focus on our hospitality to make sure that we continue to offer a high quality service to guests and we constantly seek feedback to make sure that we are delivering the service we promote.”
We asked Iain what ICTFC values most about Chamber membership:
“The opportunity to speak to and do business with fellow members. The Chamber offers a fantastic platform to promote our commercial offerings. Although we’re making a conscious effort to improve our own networking needs, Inverness Chamber provides a tremendous opportunity to chat with fellow businesses in formal and informal environments. I also believe the statement “It’s not what you know but who you know” rings true.”
