Member of the Week - John Baikie Photography
Our member of the week this week is John Baikie Photography. John started as a part-time business 20 years ago, and then made the transition to full-time in 2004. John is a professional photographer and videographer who is keen to do more of Business Portraits but also has a passion for wedding photography for which he has won Wedding Photographer of the Year.
We asked John why he would like to feature as member of the week: ”To make people aware of my business, and show a little of what I do. I feel I am different to the other photographic businesses out there. I am very passionate about what I do, and like to think I offer a creative approach.”
John would like to shout about other aspects of photography he available to do: “Business portraits are something I am keen to do more of. I believe portraits and lighting are my speciality, and I offer a more creative approach. I am also keen to take on new commercial and PR jobs. I have a lot of experience of working under pressure and to deadlines and have worked with many big companies and big names.”
John also offers a lot of training options in photography, from very basic beginners to a more experienced level. Also offering a service for businesses to maximise their social media photography.
John would like to offer Chamber members an exclusive 10% off for business headshots or commercial shoots AND is also offering 20% discount for Chamber members who want basic photography training delivered for getting the best from social media photography.
We asked John what his business plans are over the next 12 months: “To grow and become better at what I do. I am working on some book projects at the moment as well and hope to develop that. The photography training/mentoring side is something I hope will become a bigger part of what I do going forward.”
John Baikie Photography has taken home many awards. The most recent award was May 2017 when he received The Scottish Portrait Photographer of the Year award for a portrait of a performer at the Inverness Street Festival; Overall Scottish Photographer of the year in 2016; as well as wedding photographer of the year and Press and PR Photographer of the Year.
John said “I’ve been lucky enough to win quite a number of awards over the year across a really broad range of subjects.”
John shared what he values most about Chamber Membership: “The opportunity to meet so many other business people”.
John also provided his ‘top tip’ for making the most of membership: “Go to the events. Something I have not been very good at myself. You definitely get out of it what you put in!”.
