Member of the Week - Ledingham Chalmers LLP

Ledingham Chalmers LLP are one of the largest full-service law firms in Scotland, with four offices across the country (Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Stirling) employing 155 members of staff, including 29 partners.  The Inverness office alone is the base for 12 members of staff, including four partners, two senior associates and three associates.

Established in 1991 through the merger of C&PH Chalmers and Edmonds & Ledingham in Aberdeen, the firm are trusted advisors for business clients operating in key sectors that underpin and drive the regional economy: agriculture, food, and fisheries, as well as energy, construction, leisure, tourism and education.  The firm also offer specialist advice to the public and insurance sectors.

From counsel on employment and corporate law, to litigation, commercial property and construction matters across the whole of the north of Scotland, Ledingham Chalmers focus on long-term client relationships built around a consistently high level of partner delivery.

We spoke to Elisa Miller, associate in the commercial property department to find out more about Ledingham Chalmers and their connection to Inverness Chamber of Commerce:

“I joined Ledingham Chalmers LLP as a trainee solicitor in Inverness in 2004 and I regularly advise on commercial leasing matters, sales and purchases of business and industrial premises, investment purchases and development work.

The Chamber brings people, businesses and organisations together: helping promote the rich and diverse business landscape in the Highlands regionally, nationally and internationally.

As a firm, we’ve had an increasingly strong presence in the business community in Inverness for more than a quarter of a century.

With such a wide network at our fingertips via the Chamber, and having been members of the organisation for over 20 years, it makes sense to use this opportunity to spread the word even further about Ledingham Chalmers: the value of the work we do, and how the strength and depth of our expertise benefits clients.”

Ledingham Chalmers has put sustainable growth at the heart of its strategy for the next 12 months, and beyond.  Elisa said:

“That means building a business that is fit for all seasons; differentiating ourselves; attracting the best people to the firm; and delivering a valuable service to clients for a fair return.

We continue to focus on business development in growth sectors, including the SME market. Here in Inverness, for example, that means continuing to cement our reputation as the ‘go to’ firm for business law advice to clients on commercial litigation, employment, commercial property, construction and corporate matters.”
