Member of the Week - Optimum Underfloor Heating Ltd

Optimum Under Floor Heating Ltd is celebrating its 10th anniversary of business. Rory Haigh, Managing director, has been involved with under floor heating since 1999; but 10 years ago, realised the industry was in need of an underfloor design and supply company that was more customer-focused.

Mr Haigh said “too many issues were arising as there was not the knowledge base within the various trades to ensure seamless and successful installs. Optimum’s mission was then set to ensure that every project we designed and supplied was correctly installed, commissioned and handed over to the final customer. We do this by supporting our account customers at every stage with our hands-on approach. Individual non-account customers receive this service directly from Optimum.”

Underfloor Heating Controls are extremely important and Optimum has always delivered the best and most user-friendly controls on the market. They are currently supplying new controls for older underfloor installations as the technology that is now available can greatly increase the efficiency and user friendliness of older installations.

Although Optimum specialise in underfloor heating, they work closely with other companies that can deliver the complete and integrated heating package. With over 20 years experience in the industry, Rory said “you get to know what companies and individuals are doing excellent work…All Optimum customers benefit from this knowledge so you end up having direct access to businesses and trades that successfully supply and deliver the following products or services – Air and Ground Source Heat Pumps; Pumped Liquid Screeds; Biomass; Architects; Builders; Plumbers & Electricians.

Rory’s role is very varied as the managing director, from taking calls and making tea to site visits and future product developments. He firmly believes that a hands-on, customer focused approach, is what people and businesses like. But Mr Haigh is just as busy outside of his business with his family, dogs and extension project which he manages due to the support of his wife and Financial Director, Eilidh.

Mr Haigh decided to book his member of the week slot due to it being included in the membership package.

We asked Rory what his plans are for the business are over the next 12 months, he replied “To ensure that underfloor heating keeps progressing to the level where all homes and businesses are heated with underfloor heating”.

As a customer focused business, Rory commented, “I consider every recommendation from a previous customer to be a commendation and our marketing is based on this ethos.”

We asked Mr Haigh what he values most about his Chamber Membership: “Being part of a bigger business family of like-mined people.”

Rory’s top tip to fellow Chamber members to maximise their Chamber membership is to “take part in the Chamber events and keep in touch with other Chamber Members.”

For anyone building or renovating, the Optimium Underfloor Heating door is also open and their knowledge is free
