Member of the Week - Panasonic Store
Local independent business, Panasonic Store, have been serving the local area with Panasonic electrical goods since 2001, when they were the first solus Panasonic outlet in Scotland – a store specialising in the retailing of Panasonic products.
Mr Michael Freeman, current business owner, took over in 2014 having managed the store since opening its doors in 2001. Michael has extensive experience and a genuine interest in electronics having served his apprenticeship as an Electrical Engineer for Grampian Records, Wick, which produced music cassettes. Mr Freeman commented on the commitments of running a business: “running your own business; as many business owners will know; means that you are first in, last home on any given day”. But as owner of the Panasonic Store, Michael is very hands-on and his duties are much more varied than just electronics. With a small team of two, he is covering all aspects from retail operation, purchasing and promotions, to sales and technical departments, wages control, cleaning department and social worker. Michael said “it’s a long list which seems to grow as each year passes; but I wouldn’t have it any other way”.
We asked Mr Freeman why he would like to feature as member of the week: “We want to take advantage of this brilliant service that is provided free of charge as part of our annual membership because although we have we’ve been on academy street for nearly 16 years we always take every opportunity to remind people of our whereabouts and reminding people that we are a local business (We are not Panasonic UK) remains key to our business growth”.
As a local business, Panasonic Store has the ability to deliver and install the goods they sell. A business about people, their products almost take 2nd place. From a small microwave oven to a wall mounted 65” TV with audio throughout the home, Panasonic Store offer a professional and comprehensive service. Panasonic Store’s newest product is the brand new display technology for our TV’s which is called “Organic Light Emitting Diode” or “OLED” for short. Michael said “it delivers a break-through in picture quality and really has to been seen to be believed… we have them in stock in store ready for you all to see”. In addition, Panasonic Store are offering up to 24 months interest free credit AND a free Panasonic 6 year warranty, read more about the OLED TV technology here: www.panasonic.com/uk/consumer/televisions-learn.html
In the coming 12 months, Panasonic Store seeks to become increasingly involved in Smart Home Installations which includes anything from home monitoring CCTV to control of lighting, all controlled from your smart phone or tablet device. As an area which is continually expanding, it is becoming competitively priced and accessible for the whole family to use.
We asked Michael what he values most about his Chamber Membership: “We value the ability to network with like-minded businesses…and market directly to each and every member through the email database…. The Chamber is also our voice on many issues around local government that affects our business in Inverness area… being a chamber member delivers a great deal of credibility in the way other businesses perceive us”.
Michael’s top-tip to other members to maximise their Chamber membership is “make sure you put the big round sticker proudly on your business front door and of course attend as many events as you can each year!”.
