Member of the Week - Pelican Design

Pelican Design, established in 1990, was initially one of just a handful of Design Agencies in the Highlands. During the last 27 years, Pelican has grown and expanded its service offering to clients from design to print; responsive website development; e-commerce; branding and logo design; social media set up and SEO reviews. Additionally, Pelican also host all of their sites on their own dedicated server, and so act as a “one stop shop” for all of your marketing needs.

We spoke to Luke Slater, who has been at Pelican Design since he was just 17. Luke began as an apprentice designer/coffee maker and is now sole director. Luke said: “with years of graphic and website experience under my belt, I feel I am in a great position to help clients market their businesses”.

Luke has a customer-focused approach: “I like to make us as approachable as possible and would ask anyone who is interested in our services or who just wants to ask questions related to them to pick up the phone or send us an email. I’m happy to help”.

We asked Luke why he would like Pelican Design to feature as member of the week: “I see member of the week as a great platform to get us out there and raise a bit of awareness”.

With Highland Business Week approaching, Luke would love to have a chat with visitors and exhibitors at the Spotlight Exhibition on Tuesday 26th September at the Kingsmills Hotel. Pelican Design will be exhibiting at stand C11, so pop down and say hello – there is also the fantastic opportunity to win a two-night stay at Eagle Brae in Struy (only 45 mins from Inverness) for 2 on the 8th-10th December. Check Eagle Brae out at  and visit stand C11 at spotlight for details on how to enter.

Pelican Design have some exciting plans over the next 12 months. Currently with 5 staff, they are already in talks about hiring a third web developer and expansion plans in 2018 mean a permanently staffed Inverness office around Spring.

Pelican Design also support the young, up and coming workforce by providing a modern apprenticeship.

We asked Luke what he values most about his Chamber Membership: “The networking, I’ve met a lot of new people and learned so much from them over the last couple of years. Its great getting our name out there and helping folk out, but the whole experience has helped me grow as a business owner”.

To make the most of your Chamber membership, Luke recommends: “going to all the networking events you can, they’re a great networking resource!”.
