Scottish Provincial Press is celebrating a significant year this year with their oldest title, the Inverness Courier, celebrating its 200th anniversary in December!

With 220 employees spread across the North and North East of Scotland, SPP also publishes 13 other local newspaper titles including: The Northern Scot, The John O’Groat Journal, and The Ross-shire Journal.

Scottish Provincial Press also produce a significant portfolio of magazine titles – last year they published in excess of 200! Some of the partners they contract-publish for include: VisitScotland, HIAL, Calmac, the RAF Families Federation, Loganair and Inverness Chamber of Commerce.

Scottish Provincial Press have embraced the advent of the internet and development of technology like smart phones as they believe this has created significant opportunities for their business. We spoke to Sarah Mackay, B2B Advertising Sales Manager, who said: “We’re now able to reach more people than ever before”.

“We’ve recently rolled out a Digital Marketing Service meaning we are now able to offer local businesses all the benefits of print and digital advertising through one account manager”.

Sarah and her team of 8 are responsible for titles such as: Executive Magazine, Connect, Energy North, the Energy Directory, as well as the business to business offering from out newspaper titles.

We asked Sarah why she would like SPP to feature as member of the week: “We’ve lots to shout about, the launch of our Digital Marketing Service and the continued development of our print portfolio”.

Scottish Provincial Press newspapers are proud to be recognised as being the leaders in the field. In recent years, a number of their titles, journalists and photographers have been recognised at a Highland and National level.

We asked Sarah what she values most about Chamber membership: “The connection it gives us to local businesses. Whether that’s through networking events, Highland Business Week or the conversations we have with businesses through our publishing partnerships”.

Sarah’s ‘top tip’ to other members to maximise their membership would be: “Come along to Highland Business Week, it’s a great way to meet new businesses and showcase your services”.
