Member of the Week - thystle Ltd

thystle ltd was founded and is run by Donna Smith, a professional with over 20 years experience of business management and improvement on 1 April 2019. thystle are big believers in the idea that you should be able to 'work happy'.  We all spend a significant proportion of our week at work and rather than it being a chore, thystle think it should be somewhere where staff feel empowered and able to deliver their services in the best way possible. Whatever area of your business you want to look at, thystle’s first step would be to come and have a no obligation discussion with you about the ways in which they could help and the process they would go through to help you achieve your desired outcome. thystle can tailor their approach based on the size and type of business you are and will work closely with you throughout to ensure that good progress is made. thystle have a particularly keen interest in using digital solutions as well as some good old-fashioned ones to improve things for the better.

ICC spoke to Owner and sole director of the business, Donna Smith: “I decided to take all of my 20+ years of experience working in business analysis, business improvement and senior management to provide tailored business support to SMEs as well as project support to larger organisations.  I meet with clients to understand what they are trying to achieve through business change, recommend an approach that suits and then help them implement the solution.  How I work with each client will be totally bespoke to them.”

Donna told us why she would like thystle to be member of the week: “As my business is still very new, I am on a mission to try and spread the word about what I do and how I might help other businesses in the area, particularly as my main objective is to help them save time, money and stress!

“I’d like to let everyone know that I do a free no obligation consultation so that I can understand what someone wants to achieve to firstly confirm whether I am the right person to help them, and if so, gather enough information to provide them with a fixed price proposal outlining the work I would do for them.”

We asked Donna to share her business plans for the next 12 months: “I would love to expand during the next 12 months and take on my first member of staff.”

Donna shared what she values most about her Inverness Chamber of Commerce membership: “? The networking opportunities and also the support received from Chamber staff, both practical and moral.  It was very daunting taking the first steps into self employment but there is always a friendly face at the Chamber when you need it.”

Donna provided her top-tip for other Chamber members to make the most of their ICC membership: “My top tip would be to try to attend Chamber events fairly regularly in order to build some connections and relationships and to make sure that you have a proper chat with the Chamber staff from time to time as they can point you in the right direction for all sorts of help.”
