Membership

1. Introduction

1.1 These terms and conditions form the basis of the legal relationship between a member and Inverness Chamber of Commerce. By proceeding with the registration/joining process, members agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

2. Membership Criteria

2.1 Membership of Inverness Chamber of Commerce is open to individuals who are in business on their own account; companies, corporations, firms and other organisations engaged or interested in commerce, industry, trade and ancillary services; members of professions who have an interest in commerce, industry, trade and ancillary services; voluntary, social and public sector agencies, organisations or bodies who have an interest in commerce, industry, trade and ancillary services.

2.2 Membership of Inverness Chamber of Commerce is a business entitlement rather than a personal one. All employees of the member company are therefore entitled to the use of all of the Inverness Chamber benefits and services when working on behalf of their member employer.

2.3 Membership is subject to Inverness Chamber of Commerce Board approval and Inverness Chamber reserves the right to refuse or cancel an organisation’s membership at any time as per section 4.3 and for reasons including but not limited to: if the organisation or its owners have been declared insolvent or if the organisation has been found to be trading fraudulently.

3. Membership Subscription

3.1 Subscription fees are based on an agreed package and level of membership. Members should inform Inverness Chamber of Commerce of any material changes affecting their business.

3.2 Membership is for a minimum period of 12 months. Members will automatically be invoiced for the next membership period 30 days before each 12-month term expires.

3.3 Inverness Chamber members’ details will only be made available to approved British Chambers of Commerce affinity partners and other Inverness Chamber members. Details will not be made available to any other third parties at any time.

3.4 No member whose subscription is in arrears shall be entitled to exercise the rights of membership and unless the Inverness Chamber Board otherwise determines, any member whose subscription shall be more than 6 months in arrears shall cease to be a member and their name shall be struck off the register of members.

4. Membership Termination

4.1 A member may terminate membership by giving notice in writing at least one month before the date when the next renewal subscription is due. If no such notice is received, the member may be liable for the full year subscription.

4.2 Should a member decide to cancel membership within the 12 month period, then they remain liable for the full annual subscription. No refunds can be given, and membership is non-transferable.

4.3 Inverness Chamber of Commerce will be entitled to cancel an organisation’s membership if any outstanding fees, including but not limited to the subscription fee, remain unpaid for a period of three months after the date that payment is due; a member has behaved in an inappropriate manner towards other members or towards Inverness Chamber; a member brings Inverness Chamber or its reputation and good standing into disrepute through the member’s actions; a member has breached these terms and conditions.

5. Payment Terms

5.1 A member will, through prior agreement, be invoiced by Inverness Chamber of Commerce and settlement may be made by credit card, debit card or BACS transfer; or payment can be made directly through the Inverness Chamber website. There is also an option to pay by monthly direct debit.

5.2 The price of membership will include VAT at 20%.

5.3 Payment is due 28 days from invoice date.

5.4 After payment of the initial fees, subsequent annual payments are due on or around the renewal date.

5.5 Where information supplied to Inverness Chamber of Commerce for the purposes of calculating the subscription due, proves to be misleading, Inverness Chamber reserves the right to cancel the membership if the correct subscription fee that is due is not subsequently paid. Where Inverness Chamber exercises its right to cancel the membership under these circumstances, no refund of any subscription fee already paid will be refunded.

5.6 Inverness Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to increase membership fees on the 1st of January each year by 3% (or by the annual RPI%, whichever is greater).

6. Events

6.1 Inverness Chamber of Commerce organises a series of business events for its members, some of which may also be open to non-members.

6.1.1 Regular events such as networking lunches and business breakfasts must be booked through the Inverness Chamber website and paid in advance of the event.

6.1.2 Major events such as the Highland Business Dinner must be booked via the relevant booking form which will be made available on the Inverness Chamber website and such bookings must be paid in advance of the event.

6.2 If an unforeseen circumstance occurs and an attendee is unable to attend an event resulting in cancellation, attendees are advised to contact the Inverness Chamber events team.

6.3 All cancellations must be in writing and, depending on the timescale, cancellation charges will apply:

6.3.1 For regular events, cancellations within 4 working days of the event are non-refundable.

6.3.2 For major events, cancellation charges and timescales are as specified on the relevant booking form.

6.4 No refund will be offered for non attendance at an event.

7. Chamber Logo

7.1 Members are entitled to use a ‘Member of Inverness Chamber of Commerce’ logo supplied by Inverness Chamber on any office stationery, website and other marketing materials to show they are a member of Inverness Chamber.

7.2 Members may only use the logo for such time as they remain an active member of Inverness Chamber of Commerce

7.3 If membership is terminated either by the member or by Inverness Chamber, the ex-member must destroy all promotional materials and stationery displaying a ‘Member of the Inverness Chamber of Commerce’ logo.

7.4 At no time must the use and/or context of the logo bring Inverness Chamber of Commerce into disrepute

8. Limitation of Liability

8.1 Inverness Chamber of Commerce shall have no liability for any losses suffered by a member as a result of using services offered by a fellow member. Inverness Chamber of Commerce shall have no responsibility for advice given or services provided by its third party service providers.

By proceeding to register with Inverness Chamber of Commerce and accepting delivery of its services and support (for both membership and events), customers agree to be bound by and accept these terms and conditions and shall be liable for any expenses.
